About Us
Evesham Operatic and Dramatic Society (EODS) has now been entertaining the Vale of Evesham for over 143 years – in fact since 1881, with our first musical production, The Mikado, following in 1902.
The group provides the opportunity for anyone aged 16+ (no matter what ability and experience) to be involved in theatre. Whether this is on the stage as a performer or back stage as a member of the crew or production team.
Our aim is to present two productions a year, currently at The Henrician Theatre in Evesham, with each production taking to the stage for three or four live performances, as well as extra performance opportunities at local events and concerts throughout the year, with our main productions taking place in Autumn and Spring.
Both annual productions have a similar rehearsal schedule, with the majority of rehearsals taking place at our hut in Hampton Tuesday and Wednesday nights from 7:30pm. Each shows demands are different and each cast member will be given a schedule of rehearsals showing when they are required.
The rough rehearsal schedule for each show is as follows:
Spring Production
Auditions – A Tuesday/ Wednesday night usually a week or two after the Autumn Production. These can sometimes include starter workshops to become familiar with the material and the chance to meet the team.
Rehearsals will begin straight away after the casting process is complete.
Rehearsals- Weekly Tuesday and Wednesday rehearsals from 7:30pm at the EODS hut in Evesham, typically finishing at around 10.00pm.
Break for Christmas.
Rehearsals resume until the performance in Spring. (Additional rehearsals are added before the show week to accommodate technical and costume requirements)
Autumn Musical:
Auditions – A Tuesday/ Wednesday night usually a week or two after the Spring Production. These can sometimes include starter workshops to become familiar with the material and the chance to meet the team.
Rehearsals will begin straight away after the casting process is complete.
Rehearsals- Weekly Tuesday and Wednesday rehearsals from 7:30pm at the EODS hut in Evesham, typically finishing at around 10.00pm.
These rehearsals will continue throughout the summer holidays until the week of the show. (Additional rehearsals are added before the show week to accommodate technical and costume requirements)
All of the above is subject to change as each show has different requirements and does not follow the rehearsal plans for any extra shows such as local concerts.
Socially we hold several events throughout the year including: Theatre Trips, Christmas Parties, Quiz Nights and much more!
